So I was thinking of renting Far Cry 2 from Gamefly and if I liked it possibly buy it. I'd just rent it but I have somany other games I can rent, dont want to waste my time on it if it isnt that great.SoI just want to clarify a few things on it.1. Does it have a leveling system and/or an attribute/skill system, or do you just progressivly get more weapons.2. If there is a leveling system how in depth is the system? (Ignore if no to leveling/attributes)3. I heard the save system sucked and you can only save at safe houses, just wondering if there seriously is no checkpoints?Far Cry 2 questions
1. No leveling or attribute system, and you pretty much just buy weapons, health and repair upgrades.
2. Ignored
3. No checkpoints except where there's a major story event where the path you take is very linear. There are very few of these events and you'll always save at a safe house, or after you travel on a bus.Far Cry 2 questions

Definatly a rent, but it grows tiresome very quick. I'd advise not to buy.
alright thanks for the answers
1. No leveling system.
2. See 1.
3. I will never understand why everyone *****es about omg no checkpoint every 10 feet *cries* People did the same thing with Dead Rising. It's not hard to go to a save point and save.. you can save in any of your safe houses or weapon shops. The checkpoint every few steps crap that is so common these days just makes games too easy.

Everyone whines about this aspect all the time.

HAHA,I bought it,played it for a day,got very tired of it,then the next day sold it to my cousinXD!!For me it just was'nt worth it,worst 30$ ive ever spent on a game. For one thing WAY to much drivig, even more than GTA 4,ennemies attack on sight,no agravation required to piss someone off and the missions are very reppetitive,To unlock guns stop the convoy, beleive it or not, thats mostly what the game is.:S
It's so cheap by now that buying it is not a crazy thought. It has its flaws (silly AI, uneven difficulty, boring driving sections, no plot), but the weapons are all incredibly satisfying to shoot and the technical aspects are amazing. No leveling up or rpg elements whatsoever, although you can upgrade your equipment as you progress. Multiplayer is decent too, as opposed to most games on the market. I say pick it up instead of renting, but only if you have a lot of patience.
Lol how is going about a mission VERY LINEAR? it gives you whatever you wanna do... if ur attacking an objective you can sit back and snipe or u can go in and set IED's or run and gun... only bad thing is when you get exposed to the enemy they ALLL know where your at!
I think the saving system is perfectly fine, if anything I save way too much. Once I learned to use and abuse the bus system I never had a problem with ''ten minute drives OMG!'' and I think there is a small leveling system. Upgrading your health kits and ammo bandoliers are almost like gaining new powers when you're playing on Hardcore or higher. I wouldn't say rent, because I found the beginning of the game to be very off-putting. However, once I spent some serious time with the game it opened up and I found that it was really quite brilliant. However, it does take a little effort to get everything out of it.
