Gears of War 2 unlockable characters?

I can't remember where exactly, but I read somewhere that unlocking certain achievements in Gears 1 will unlock characters for Gears 2's multiplayer.Thing is, I deleted my Gears 1 save a while back when I sold the game.I have most achievements for Gears 1 but now no game saves, does anybody know whether I will be able to use the unlockable characters? Will Gears 2 check the actual achievements of Gears 1 or game data?Gears of War 2 unlockable characters?

I'm almost certain it will track the actual achievements. Because just like when you delete the game saves, your stats are all kept online. I got a new box since I initially beat the game and I still got seriously, and some other achievements. I think they track your progress based on the stats kept online, not on your actual box. But I may be wrong. I certainly hope they track it based on the actual achievements.

heard about this. its for MP (what ive heard atleast) defeating ramm on insane...carmine in MP unlocking the dude with the cowboy hat and dude with tats on his face. there all attainable achievements. no impossible MP ones. (once again this is what iv heard)
It tracks those entirely through achievements.

Adam sessler hints to beating the first and last level on an difficulty in GoW and aslo collecting 10 COG tags and this shoud unlock charachters for multiplyer and then i found a list of things on a site while back so just make sure you have those 3 achievments and you should be good.

NO....Microsoft doesn't let to have any games linked through achievements... for example there's an achievement linked between PGR 3 and PGR 4 and microsoft didn't let them to link the games through achievements
I'd be suprised if Gears 2 could read it. The reward is not much so don;t really worry about it
i have a problem i got gears 2 before gears1 then i found out u have 2 get gears 1 and get 3 achievments i have just unlocked those acheivements but wheni put in gears 2 it said i hadn't unlocked any other characters

i got the achievements to get RAAM, Lt. Kim and A.Carmine but for some reason it the characters havent been unlocked
