Fallout 3- Vault 87

Yeah, so I've been searching around on how to get Vault 87 ''discovered''. I've beaten the game and scoured the entire vault on the inside but I still can't get it to count as being discovered (obsessed with completing everything). However, I managed to find a big glitch. From the inside, I managed to find the vault entrance. Now, there wasn't a computer to open the door, but I could activate the door or the opening mechanism which opened the door. Unfortunately, there was nothing on the other side. Literally nothing. There was about a foot of solid ground and then it just ended into a brown, hazy nothingness. When I tried to step in, it suddenly teleported me to the beginning of the Test Labs. I tried to push Fawkes in and it did the same to him. I honestly can't find any way to get this location ''discovered''. I even tried the obviously stupid way of stocking up on Rad-Away and using them every second as I ran across the surface but I died almost immediately. Anyone been successful yet?Fallout 3- Vault 87

I'm guessing it was designed so you can't discover it.
yes!!!! I磛e discovered Vault 87 in my map!!! great!!!! it磗 a mythhttp://es.youtube.com/watch?v=_ROobncRwug%26fmt=18
I'm pretty sure it's on my map. I just did this quest last night and while I was at the citadel, one of the guys there added it on my map.
I have this same glitch going on right now, but it was on my second trip to Vault 87 (for the fun of it, well after getting Fawkes). So now I've made the wonderful mistake of saving the game inside the vault, and cannot leave, as I keep getting teleported back to the labs inside the vault...and the map is claiming I have not discovered Vault 87, and my location is Lamplight...Hmm.....

Damn, that's pretty wierd. Are you sure that Vault 87 is a discoverable location since you only really spend a little bit of time in a small part of it? I would guess they didn't even animate the main exit and stuff because you aren't meant to be there and they assumed no one would be. Besides, there is no achievement for discovering every vault, only for finding 100 locations which I did easily without ever finding Vault 87, why are you so intent on ''discovering'' it?
Vault 87 is definitely discoverable on the map because I found it without knowing it was important to the plot.

I walked out from Little Lamplight and did a bit of exploring the nearby area - found signs to a very radioactive place guarded by supermutants. Obviously anywhere that well guarded and with huge radiation had to have something important, so I went exploring.

Advanced Radiation Suit - check

Rad X - check

Radiation resistance - max 85% - check

Walk towards the radiation and get hit by figures of 400+ Rad per second - WTF?????? - Frazzle and die :(

Second attempt - suit up, walk in, get 800+ Rads, take lots of Rad away, get a bit closer, more Rad Away - all the way to finding a wooden doorway. Click on it and it says it can't be opened, but also triggered Vault 87 location found. You can escape by either using loads more rad away, or fast travelling away to Megaton and using the My First Infirmary to clear the Radiation sickness.

If you plan on using this method to discover the location - it is much better to drop into the pit from above, than trying to walk straight to the front door. The steep walls surrounding the hole seem to shield much of the radiation from the higher up ledge (though it will still easily hit 100+ rads per second).

Um, you do know that you already go to Vault 87 during the quest right? I don't think they will use DLC for something that is already in the game...

Hmm.....[/QUOTE] Oh man that sucks. Can you find your way to the back entrance from Lamplight Caverns again? If not, then you might be SOL and could have to restart (I hope for your sake that this is either not the case or that you are a very low level and won't lose much in a restart)
You know there's a little gate underground that goes right to it...I don't remember being hit by Radiation when I went there.
It's not the REAL vault. My bro discovered a diff. one. It's covered by radiation...... I might be wrong, can someone just ck over this? I want to be right before I start spreading the wrong info.
You're not intended to go into Vault 87 through the main vault door which is probably why there is a glitch there. It's surrounded by TONS of radiation (I was up to 600 a second when I tried). As people have posted before, it is POSSIBLE to do it if you spam Rad Away and have your resistance jacked up as high as you can get but you're supposed to go to that vault through Lamplight, it's just how the game has set things up.
i discovered it on my PC with cheats
and theres one door that you cant open it,and a deid body and some bags
The developers made it so that you die from rad poisoning before you even get close to the door. Unless your character is Chuck Norris then I doubt you'll ''discover'' it for the XP. Vault 87 is the one location on my map that I haven't been to (I used the Explorer perk and I've been everywhere) mainly because you're not supposed to get to it.
Avenger's method works, but not exactly. I did what he said and died upon teleport, even when i hit my pipboy button as quickly as possible to take some radaway. So I went right above the door (over the cliff) and backed off before I fell. But before i backed off, i make sure it would let me teleport to vault 87 (even though I was at it). Any way, It worked, so do that. BTW, I had 22 Radaways or so, and i used them all, which is cool, bc i seldom use them anyway. Hope this helped, and thanks Avenger.
