I use an LCD monitor that supports 1080p, but I play my games at their native resolution, which is usually 720p. Should I be upscaling? Also, if you upscale, do you get lower fps?Poll: Do you upscale your games?
I am not sure because my tv's native resolution is 720p and I play at that but i don't think you would lose a lot of FPS if you upscalePoll: Do you upscale your games?
I wouldn't imagine that you'd get a reduction in frame rate as upscalling takes less computional power than actually rendering at 1080. If the frame rate drops it'll be hardly noticeable. You'd be more likely to get lag than a drop in frame rate (there is a difference).
FPS doesn't drop when you upscale, since most games are lower than 1080p, your basically scaling a 720p or less game to 1080p to fit that res on your screen, so it has no effect. And you don't need to upscale, but it wouldn't matter if you do it anyways, though the picture won't look better either.
If you have the option I would say definitely. I have tested lots and lots of games on my tv with native resolution vs. 1080p upscaled. Games ALWAYS look better in 1080p on my tv. Might be different for other people cause I'd imagine it may vary from tv to tv but that's my personal experience.

All upscaling does is stretch a 720p or less res to fit on a 1080p screen.
native rez of the tv is always best because thats always gonna be the image that fits the screen just right i guess its a matter of opinion i guess but thats how i feel about it i mean if you go higher or lower you either have something thats too big or small for your tv. It doesn't really have an effect on the games either so dont worry about the performance just worry about matching the rez of your screen.
