red ringed

my 360 got the res ring of death. Recently i tried to fix it by cleaning the chips. I didnt apply thermal compound and left it bare. I placed the x clamps and turned it on. I got two lights instead of three and the fan made lod noises for a while and then it turned of. The tv dispays nothing. I know two lights mean overheating but how can three go to two. what does this mean.red ringed

I bought it in February 2007

My question is how come 3 lights became 2
Simple....buy a PS3
dont you have better things to do then troll on the 360 forum? oh wait you have only a ps3 never mind.

as for getting your 360 fixed, i live in ny and there places that fix 360 in a day that cost i think around $100. check out your local gamestop and ask them if they know of a place. or just buy an arcade and throw your stuff on it.
Make an X-clamp
And you really do need to apply thermal paste and when you ve don the x clamp. You need to reconnect you dvd drive and put the fan so that it only blows on the big steel thing and turn the xbox on for like 45 mins. Then let it cool and pray. All the advise i can give you.
I would replace the thermal compound and make sure the fans are working properly.
