Is it worth buying a 360 now?

I want to buy a 360, but I'm not sure if I should. One thing holding me back is the failure rate. I know it was really bad in the past, but what is the current failure rate? Has it improved any?

And second, I know this generation is coming to a close, so I'm not sure if I should just buy a 360 or wait it out for the next microsoft console. What should I do?Is it worth buying a 360 now?
The current failure rate is in the 10%-20% area for consoles you grab at retail chains and plans for the next xbox to come out will be either 2 years or 3. The most used year next gen consoles are coming is 2012 so you don't have to worry about a new console coming out for a while. Is it worth buying a 360 now?
I'm going to wait until the next batch of consoles myself. I've waited so long. I only just got a DS this year and playing catch up on one system is bad enough. Part of me is willing to tske the risk with the Xbox 360 though. I'm considering buying one with tax return money. The Xbox Live Arcade is the main reason. I really like the types of games offered on XBLA. But, part of me would also rather wait because in hopes that the replacement console will be fully backwards compatible and have a low failure rate.If you got the money, I think it might be worth the risk. By the time you get the red rings, it might be time to replace the system with a hopefully-backwards-compatible one anyway.
Worth buying now? It's been worth it since launch imo. It's got the best game of all the consoles and yeah its got a high failure rate but a 3 yr warranty. And that should tell u something about it since everyone keeps buying them anyways. What other product do you know of with such a high defect rate that sells so many and people keep going back to?

FYI, they will never have full backwards compatability.
Heck yeah its worth it. It has one of the best games ever and the new Consoles (late 2007-now) are now reliable now. Go get one now and enjoy it, and get Xbox live with that, its one of the best Online services you could ever get. Now get off the computer and get it right now.
After 2007 (a great year), there was no doubt in my mind it was worth it.
Simple Answer:YES

Keep in mind you are on a forum that is all about the 360, almost all people who own a 360 say its worth it. Iv had my Eliet for 2 years with no problem *knok on wood*
Everybody I know with a 360 has absolutely no regrets about purchasing one. I see returns on PS3's at Gamestop all the time, rarely do I see a 360 get turned in. XBLA is an amazing feature and the new features coming to the 360 in the near future (2010) are excellent. I would wait for Christmas in case there's a price drop, or at least some great packaged deals, other than that, go with it.
i just got mine 3 weeks ago and i have no regrets at all :D
yes its worth it but It will probably fall down in price a little more.. 50 bucks less for the elite in the near future...
With the Elite dropping to $300, HDMI cables dropping to about $21, (at least in my Best Buy) and a huge library of great games going to Platinum Hits, (Forza 2, Mass Effect, Burnout Paradise, and Halo 3 being cheap) and great games coming out this holiday and in 2010, (Splinter Cell: Conviction, CoD: Modern Warfare 2, Assassins Creed 2, Forza 3, Halo 3: ODST) I would say there isn't a BETTER time to buy a 360.
Now would be a great time to get a 360, IMO. RROD failure still exists, though it's not nearly as common as it used to be. And if it comes to that, MS will fix it for free.Price just dropped on the elite, there's a lot of good games out for it, and a new wave of AAA titles is just about to hit. You won't be disappointed.
I got my 360 last october and haven't had any problems since then. I think you'll find that most of the newer models work well, it's some of the older ones that have problems.
natal is coming out next year, I dont think the 360 is going anywhere anytime soon
Absolutely! Just make sure you get a new Elite with Jasper and you'll be fine. Or if you really want there are rumors that they are releasing a new console with Natal early next year.
